Sometimes you need to drop everything and take a moment to evaluate your surroundings. Have you appreciated this day? Are you present in this moment? Maybe you need to get away for the weekend. A day? An hour?
Do you need to make time for your friends, your family, your significant other, or yourself? When Kate contacted me for a session, first of all I was honored. Kate is also a photographer and a phenomenal one at that. I also felt inspired because she and her husband were making the effort to uphold a yearly tradition, a pact of sorts to take a trip together every year. They know the ins and outs of traveling, having the stress of getting time off of work, managing a schedule that is beneficial for all and taking time to enjoy each other’s company. You take these trips just like you take the time of day to realize the good in your life.
I’m not saying everyone should drop everything for an island getaway any ole time, taking time for yourself can be as small as your favorite chia tea latte at the local coffee shop, spending an hour in your garden, reading a few chapters in a good book, playing dress up with your kids. It doesn’t have to cost money, it doesn’t have to be spent alone. Sometimes we just need to be reminded that we are worth a little reflection, a little appreciation, especially from ourselves.
